School Development

All staff attended various Curriculum for Excellence training during the three inset days in October. The nursery staff undertook Makaton signing training during this time

Healthy Schools

We are still actively following the healthy schools programme in all classes. Please  remember to send in water each day for your child to drink throughout the day

 Parent Council

The Halloween disco was on the 29th Oct 2009 and was enjoyed by everyone who attended. The costumes were magnificent.A very big thank you to all our parents for their support at these events

Parents’ Evening

Parents’ evening was very successful and we had an excellent turn out. The staff  appreciate your continued support for the school.

Pantomime/Theatre visit

The theatre group who brought us Pinocchio were excellent and as a school we will be attending the Nevis Centre on Friday 11th Dec from 1.30pm – 3.45pm approx to watch Aladdin from the local showstoppers. Those not wishing to attend will be in school as normal. Please note pupils will have to be collected from the Nevis Centre at the end of the production. The cost per child is £3.00 made payable by Friday  4th December 2009.The balance of the cost will be met from school fund .

Children in Need 20th November

This was organised this year by P7 and we raised £154. Thank you to all who supported this venture.

Christmas Concert 15th and 16th December 2009                             

Our concert will be on the afternoon of Tuesday 15th December at 1.30pm - 3pm and the evening of Wednesday 16th December 2009  7pm -8.30pm. Nursery will be from 1.00pm -3.30pm and P1-3 will be in school till 3.15pm on Tuesday 15th 2009. Parent Council will also be running a raffle at these events.

Christmas Enterprise

P1, P3/4 and P4/5 are undertaking projects linked to Christmas this session  and any funds generated will go towards our nominated charity. We will have a school calendar, hyacinths in pots and biscuits for sale during the month of December. Mrs Linfield, Mrs Young and the craft club pupils will also have items for sale at the Christmas concerts.

Can I thank everyone for their kindness in providing goods for our shoe box appeal. It was fantastic and 79 shoe boxes were sent off .

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is in school from the 24th- 27th November 2009 if pupils wish to purchase items .It will be open each afternoon till 4pm.

Scottish Celebration Nov 30th

 In Banavie P2/3 and Miss MacDonald have organised an afternoon of Scots culture, through dance, music and poetry. Entry for parents is by ticket only. We will begin at 1.00pm  and finish at 3 pm parents in P1-3 please note the time change .

Homework

Thank you to all the parents who support our homework programme and we have noted your comments from our survey on Parents Evening .Please continue to use the diary as a method of communication with the class teacher.

Parental drop in

Mrs Dunham is available for consultation without prior notice from 3.15pm -5pm

November 27th and December 18th being the 2 dates for this term.

P1-3 continue to meet at 5.30pm in the school hall on Friday .  Mr A Clark /Mr C Clark

P4-7 are now meeting at Lochaber High school on a Friday. Mr V smith/ Mr A Clark

Netball

P5-P7  Monday after school with Mrs Rankin.

Eco school

As you are aware we are still working towards our second green flag .To support us in this from January 11th 2010 all our correspondence can be accessed through our website or our newly created blog. Details of these addresses will be issued next week

 Can you let us know through the pupil diary if you still require a paper copy and we will ensure this is sent out.

Workshop

We are re-scheduling our parental workshop on the Curriculum for Excellence until the Spring term. We hope you will be able to join us for this event.
